Building The Queen Mary 2 Pt1

RMS Queen Mary 2 is a transatlantic ocean liner. She was the first major ocean liner built since Queen Elizabeth 2 in 1969, the vessel she succeeded as flagship of the Cunard Line. The ship was named by Queen Elizabeth II in 2004 after the first RMS Queen Mary, completed in 1936. Queen Mary was in turn named after Mary of Teck, consort of King George V. With the retirement of Queen Elizabeth 2 from active duty in 2008, Queen Mary 2 is currently the only transatlantic ocean liner in operation as a liner (in scheduled service between Southampton and New York ), although the ship is often used for cruising, including an annual world cruise. At the time of her construction in 2003 by Chantiers de l'Atlantique, Queen Mary 2 was the longest, widest and tallest passenger ship ever built, and with her 151400 gross register tons (GRT), was also the largest. She no longer holds this distinction after the construction of Royal Caribbean International's 154407 GT Freedom of the Seas in April 2006, which was in turn superseded by the same company's 225282 GT Oasis of the Seas in October 2009. However, Queen Mary 2 remains the largest ocean liner (as opposed to cruise ship) ever built. Queen Mary 2 was intended primarily to cross the Atlantic Ocean, and was therefore designed differently from many other passenger ships. The ship's final cost was approximately $300000 US per berth, nearly double that of many contemporary cruise ships. This was due to the size of the ship, the high ...

House Cats

One example of how house cats are "naturally" meant to behave is to observe feral domestic cats, which are social enough to form colonies. Each cat in a colony holds a distinct territory, with sexually active males having the largest territories, and neutered cats having the smallest. Between these territories are "neutral" areas where cats watch and greet one another without territorial conflicts. Outside these neutral areas, territory holders usually aggressively chase away stranger cats, at first by staring, hissing, and growling, and if that does not work, by short but noisy and violent attacks.

Despite cohabitation in colonies, cats do not have a social survival strategy, or a "pack mentality". This mainly means that an individual cat takes care of all basic needs on its own (e.g., finding food, and defending itself), and thus cats are always lone hunters; they do not hunt in groups as dogs or lions do. (It is no coincidence that cats are "clean" animals; the chemistry of their saliva, expended during their frequent grooming, appears to be a natural deodorant. If so, the function of this cleanliness is to decrease the chance a prey animal will notice the cat's presence in time.

In contrast, dog's odor is an advantage in hunting, for a dog is a pack hunter; part of the pack stations itself upwind, and its odor drives prey towards the rest of the pack stationed downwind. This requires a cooperative effort, which in turn requires communications skills. No such communications skills are required of a lone hunter.)

Santiago CALATRAVA - The COSTITUTION Bridge

Join my PAGE on Facebook: www.facebook.com Join my GROUP too: www.facebook.com Santiago CALATRAVA - (2008) - The COSTITUTION Bridge (VENICE - Italy) The design of this Bridge is modern. Designed by Santiago Calatrava [www.calatrava.com the bridge is very different from the works that made him famous, it's tastefully modern, it engages well in the landscape of the Grand Canal and it does not clash in the scene of the Venetian lagoon, helped by being constructed of glass and Istria's marble, the most used material in Venice, no visible support, a simple arc from side to side. The project shows a bridge-shaped arch with a span of 81 meters, width of 6 meters at the base and 9 in the center to a height of 10 meters in height; the structure of the central arch is made of steel with a radius of 150 meters. Even the balustrades are made of glass, with brass handrails. Inside handrails are installed LED bulbs which dissipate the beam of light in the glass railings. In the video you can see, on the bottom of the bridge, the construction phase of the gondola that will be the device that will allow to transport the disabled without having to cross the bridge. _______________________________________________________________ Italian TEXT Il progetto di questo ponte è moderno.
