This means that instead of trackers cutting, shaping, and laying down the track on site by hand, the track is laser cut in a factory. This means that the track is manufactured to a higher degree of precision than could ever be achieved by hand. The track is also made so that it snaps together like Lego pieces and is made of more layers of wood that are tightly bonded together instead of nailed together by hand like a traditional wooden roller coaster. This has three major benefits, two being to the park and the other being to the riders. The "Plug and Play" aspect of the coaster speeds construction of the coaster since track does not have to be completely manufactured on site. In addition, because of the speed of construction, the costs of building the coaster are lowered due to fewer manhours spent on the construction. The riders are subject to a coaster that is as smooth as steel. Air Roller Coaster at Alton Towers Theme Park from the YourDay DVD

This video is available in 16:9 high-quality widescreen and features the Air ride at Alton Towers theme park, located near Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. It is a steel flying roller coaster located in the Forbidden Valley area the park. The ride was the first flying roller coaster to be made by Swiss manufacturers Bolliger & Mabillard. Guests ride in a prone position and experience a feeling of flight created by "flying" close to the ground, under footpaths and gliding narrowly past objects such as trees. It almost feels like youre a superhero! It currently sits on the site of the Beast roller coaster, which went out of operation at the end of 1997. The idea came to fruition after many years of planning, and construction on Air started towards the beginning of 2001. It became one of the most expensive rides in the park, with a lot of advertising going around the park prior to its launch. It officially launched in 2002 and has become one of the most popular rides in the park. The footage is taken from the YourDay DVD. Visitors can wear special wristbands which trigger footage of you on the main rides and this customised footage is shown on the DVD. Steel Force Knex Coaster

MUSIC: Amaranth - Nightwish NOTE: I have re-uploaded it with the original music. That's why it's a little slow, so I could get past the copyrights. This is my 7th Knex model roller coaster. Construction began in mid-February, and it's been a long time building it. I made many changes to the layout during the building process as well. I also used my Lego Mindstorms NXT to make the it completely automatic (I press a button and it turns the station, lift, and brake run motors on/off so it keeps going until I tell it to stop). I have to say, I miss tube supports, but this was the most fun I've ever had building a model knex roller coaster.

Millennium Force -- Coaster Of A Century

Song: Just What I Needed - The Cars Cedar Point had already made a name for themselves as a worldreknowned place for coaster enjoyment. In 1989 they became home to the first coaster to break the 200 foot barrier. In 1994, Cedar Point became home to the award winning Inverted Roller Coaster, Raptor. Cedar Point had already been a widely popular resort, but they needed something shattering to seal the deal as the best amusement park in the world. In the winter of 1999, the first ride to break the 300 foot barrier would be built, making it the tallest roller coaster in the world. The speed of the ride would also be unbelievable, as it would pass speeds of 90 mph, which was unheard of. The ride shocked riders on opening day, which was reported to be complete pandemonium. Waits have been reported to have been as high as 5 hours for Millennium Force, and it is still one of the most popular rides in the country. Designed by Intamin AG, Millennium Force was designed to do everything as new as possible. It uses a magnetic breaking system for the final break run, which is Cedar Point's way of conserving space. The lift is essentially an elevator lift, cutting the time on the lift hill in half of what it would normally be. The track structure was also different. The ride has been so well maintained that it's still as smooth as silk after nearly 10 years! It impresses a lot of people that Millennium Force is 10 years old, but it impresses even more people that the ride has never left ...
